         The NCCD Poster Contest is designed to encourage students to research conservation topics, evaluate personal choices, and develop valuable communication skills.

Awards:

1st Place: $25, ribbon, certificate, forwarded to state competition

2nd Place: $15, ribbon, certificate

Poster Contest Rules:

  1. Posters will be judged in five grade categories: K-1, 2-3, 4-6, 7-9, & 10-12

  2. Posters must be between 8.5" X 11" and 22" X 28"

  3. A written title or slogan using one of the themes, or a related statement must appear on the front of the poster.

  4. Posters must be flat or two-dimensional.

  5. There are no restrictions on the type of art media: oil, crayon, colored pencil, pastel, or watercolor on paper or poster board are acceptable.

  6. No artist name may appear on the front of the poster.

  7. Only students residing in Northumberland County or enrolled in a school within Northumberland County may enter the contest.

  8. To qualify, the back of the poster must be clearly labeled with ALL of the following: a. student name b. grade c. school name, address, and phone number d. teacher name.

  9. Only one poster per student.

  10. Judging Criteria: a. Contains a written theme or related message that is clear in 15-30 seconds b. Quality in relation to grade level c. Simplicity d. Creativity

  11. Teachers must include form with bundled posters.

  12. First place winners will be forwarded to the state competition.

  13. Poster entries must be in the conservation district office by 4:30 PM on February 12, 2004.
